More information

Trou Blanc canyon lies in the heart of the Salazie cirque, at the foot of Piton des Neiges and its watershed. After a 15-minute drive from the bakery in Hell Bourg, we reach the Piton d'Enchaing parking area, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Approach walk: the 30-minute climb is done in the sun on a track with magnificent panoramic views over the cirque, perfect for reading the landscape. We pass the last houses before dropping to the canyon entrance for gearing up and the briefing. Then it is time for serious atmosphere!

The canyon begins in a narrow gorge with a short 10-metre rappel, a small slide and an "S"-shaped slide that will definitely stay with you. Then comes a perfect sequence of natural slides, each with a different feel. At midday, we eat at "la salle à manger" and enjoy the sun in a unique setting, where a 4-metre jump can be done again and again.

In the afternoon come pool jumps of up to 8 metres, never compulsory, a few short rappels and a slide nicknamed "the particle accelerator". The finale is a 20-metre-high scratch zipline, 35 metres long, with a landing in the water. We change by the river and walk 10 minutes back to the parking area.

Very easy technically, a must-do if you love sensations and have a bold side!
