Fleur Jaune — the jewel of canyoning in Cilaos
Welcome to one of the most beautiful canyons in Reunion Island, a route packed with sensations and dramatic scenery. The Fleur Jaune canyon is a true vertical adventure: airy rappels, natural slides, jumps, light, panoramic views… all guided by passionate professionals.
Technically accessible, this canyon is ideal for discovering canyoning in Reunion Island. It suits anyone with a decent level of fitness and the desire to explore the volcanic depths of the island…
A progressive descent of rappels and slide-rappels, punctuated by small optional jumps
After just 10 minutes of approach walking, the adventure begins. From the first metres, you enter a magnificent gorge filled with light, revealing a line of four spectacular pools with slide-rappels from 12 to 20 metres.
We use the slide-rappel technique, which keeps things technically very easy because you only have your hands to manage.
Perfect for gliding down the water with confidence and flow.
Sun, vertical terrain and breathtaking views
This sunny canyon often enjoys beautiful light all morning. Midway down, the gorge suddenly opens onto a stunning panoramic view: straight ahead, Piton des Neiges and the cirque of Cilaos.
This is where the highlight awaits: a 55-metre rappel, impressive to look at but technically straightforward, which can be descended lying back and facing the void. A moment you do not forget.
The descent ends with two beautiful rappels of 35 m then 20 m, before a break to change into dry clothes.
A mountain-style finish full of character
Then comes the climb out: a short steep path nicknamed the "sentier cabri", fun and punchy, with rope sections where arms and legs work together.
The return, nicknamed the ridge "Faut y croire", has the feel of an easy mountain scramble, still airy enough to make the finish memorable right to the last step.
You then reach the road, just 200 m from the vehicles.
