Discover one of the most spectacular canyons in the Wild South of Reunion Island: Grand Galet canyon on the Langevin River.

This very complete canyon is an ideal first step into major canyons while remaining technically accessible, thanks in particular to the guided rappel that makes the big vertical sections easier, and playful thanks to the second half: the aquatic trek in Langevin canyon.

The Langevin River, fed from the slopes below Piton de la Fournaise, delivers a progressive adventure blending technique, vertical terrain and pure aquatic fun in crystal-clear drinking water right at the foot of the waterfall.

After an approach walk of about 25 minutes along a small road, we reach the riverbed, dry at first, before the serious business begins.

Two first rappels of 15 and 25 metres let you warm up gently and learn the basics: set-up, descent and, above all, confidence in the equipment. Perfect for approaching a major vertical section with peace of mind.

Then comes the majestic 90-metre waterfall, split into two successive rappels. A first 10-metre section sets the tone full-on, before the grand finale: an 80-metre guided rappel in zipline style with a braking rope. It is technically easier than descending straight in the waterfall, but also more impressive, because you are literally hanging in the air away from the wall.

This is THE canyon of the Wild South, the postcard classic!

The rest of the route unfolds in the playful and energetic section of Langevin canyon, with its sequence of slides, jumps, ziplines, guided rappels and pure lagoon-green pools. It is a more open, joyful section where the bold can jump up to 8 metres, while others can choose smoother options.

Whether you are looking for strong sensations, a technical introduction to canyoning or simply a convivial adventure in a tropical setting, the Grand Galet + Langevin combination is the benchmark on Reunion Island: grand, educational and spectacular.
This is THE canyon of the Wild South. The postcard classic!
