Rivière des Roches, the family aquatic hike in the East
Rivière des Roches is one of Reunion Island's most popular aquatic hiking sites. Located between Bras-Panon and Saint-Benoît, it offers an accessible, playful and refreshing descent, perfect for a first canyoning-style experience or a family outing.
The descent program
The route follows the water through a succession of pools and small natural slides. The jumps are optional and can range from 1 to 10 meters depending on the area; everyone is free to jump or bypass them with a rope. The route alternates calm swimming sections with more playful passages in a preserved tropical setting.
An accessible activity
No technical experience is required. You simply need to know how to swim and feel comfortable in the water. The activity is generally accessible to children from age 8, accompanied by an adult. Each participant is equipped with a neoprene wetsuit, helmet and suitable buoyancy vest.
Why choose Rivière des Roches rather than Langevin
Both canyons are aquatic and family-friendly, but their atmospheres are different. Rivière des Roches focuses more on swimming and continuous linked pools, with a more immersive feel. It is a good alternative to Langevin, especially depending on current conditions.
A river to monitor closely
Rivière des Roches is a reactive river, and water levels can rise quickly in case of rain. Weather conditions are checked before every outing to keep the group safe.
