More information
Take "Fleur Jaune" with an early start at 6:30, add half an hour of walking that requires good movement skills, and you arrive in a little paradise called "Bassin la Roche". There you discover a huge white basalt slab, warmed by the sun, at the edge of a 120 m drop facing Piton des Neiges...
After a lunch break and some time in the sun, the route continues with a 120 m rappel in 2 x 60 m to enter the monument known as "la chapelle": an enormous basalt mass split in two by the meeting of the Fleur Jaune and Bras Rouge rivers.
What an atmosphere! After a 40 m rappel and a short walk, the light returns, you turn around and immediately understand why this place is called "the chapel". A quick snack, one last 40 m rappel, and then off for a 1 h 30 botanical hike back to Cilaos.
A must-do if you are in good physical shape! (Duration: 7 to 10 h)
