More information
At the foot of the Bellevue pass wall, the meeting point is on the road to the Bélouve lodge, in a magnificent cryptomeria forest.
This route starts with a 40-minute hike, steep and intense, but straightforward and over quickly.
We gear up by the water under two majestic trees. The atmosphere is there from the start!
A first rappel of around 10 metres, which the bold can do as a slide, drops you into a fully enclosed pool.
Here, all the water disappears under the rock! Two options follow: climb with ropes to make a jump, or pass under the water to reach the other side, with less than a metre underwater.
Next comes an 8-metre waterfall with an optional 3-metre jump. You catch the sun and the scenery is superb, but there is no time to linger: a 25-metre waterfall follows, descended by rappel or zipline. A large pool waits below, with an optional 6 m jump.
The best is still ahead: the 40-metre waterfall!
It starts with a long handline leading to a 20-metre rappel. This rappel lands on a ledge in the heart of the waterfall, where you wait clipped in to the guide.
From that ledge, you launch into one of the island most beautiful ziplines: 18 metres high and 65 metres long! After the adrenaline, a short 15-metre rappel settles things down. A short swim leads to the final 5-metre jump. Then 5 minutes of walking in the riverbed bring you back to the cars with plenty to remember.
